NewQuest Properties has leased a vacant bank building in the Shoppes at San Felipe to Wild Fork Foods, winning a purveyor of high-end meats and seafood for the Memorial submarket in west Houston.
The Florida-based specialty grocer has scooped up a 4,084-sf former Wells Fargo Bank in NewQuest’s class A project at the intersection of San Felipe Street and South Voss Road in Houston. It’s one of Wild Fork Foods’ first locations in Greater Houston.
“The Shoppes at San Felipe is a ground-zero location for a tenant like Wild Fork Foods,” says Kevin Sims, vice president of Houston-based NewQuest Properties. He and Nick Ramsey, a senior associate, handle leasing for the 61,461-sf class A project.
The Shoppes at San Felipe’s trade area boasts an average annual household income of $144,000. More than a half-million people live within five miles of the 94%-leased mixed-use development.
“Wild Fork Foods had very specific criteria for sites in high-income areas,” Sims says. “The Shoppes at San Felipe fit the bill.”
Matt Reed of Shop Co. represented Wild Fork Foods, which is seeking upscale neighborhoods with existing grocery stores. The Shoppes at San Felipe is bookended by Whole Foods and Kroger.
“Wild Fork Foods will give customers another option for buying fresh, high-quality meats and seafood that they may not find elsewhere,” Sims says.
Wild Fork Foods specializes in premium cuts of aged beef, including Wagyu, pork, chicken, lamb, seafood and specialty meats such as bison, goat, goose, quail and duck as well as desserts and breads at discounted prices. The company blast freezes its meat at the peak of freshness and maintains the temperature throughout the fulfillment process – online ordering with expedited shipping or in-store pickup. Founded in 2017, the company has 12 stores in the U.S and plans to expand to more than 200 in the next three years.
“Wild Fork Foods is going to have a strong presence in Houston,” Sims says.
Talks began shortly after the building, which fronts the heavily traveled South Voss Road, was vacated. Construction will start in the coming weeks to convert it into a high-end store. The anticipated opening is early Q2 2023.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has leased 1,400 sf of retail space in Shoppes at Magnolia Circle, 7424 FM 1488 Rd., Magnolia, from NewQuest Properties.
