Associated Builders And Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter Elects Annie Mecias-Murphy First Female Chair

Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Chapter (ABC) is proud to announce that it has elected its first female Chair, Annie Mecias-Murphy, co-owner and president of JA&M Developing LLC. She will serve as Chair for the 2023 term.

The board is tasked with strategic planning, governance, financial oversight and long-term planning on behalf of the chapter, including advocating during the legislative session, serving as a liaison between members and the industry’s top executives and decisionmakers, and helping advance issues important to the region’s commercial construction industry. The new board was sworn-in at the 2022 Holiday Installation Celebration held on December 13, 2022 at Bergeron in Weston.

“We are thrilled for Annie to have the honor of being the first female to take the helm of ABC-FEC’s board,” said Peter Dyga, president and CEO of ABC Florida East Coast Chapter. “She has been a dedicated member for years and we look forward to her leadership and expertise as we continue our great work for South Florida’s and the Chapter region’s construction industry.”

Mecias-Murphy, gained her interest in the construction industry from her father who started in the industry when he immigrated from Cuba in 1969. JA&M Developing LLC was founded in 2005. JA&M is a family-owned, full-service general contracting company for commercial projects and has more than tripled in size since its inception.

In addition to her work with ABC-FEC, Mecias-Murphy is involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, the Epic Foundation and Metro Life Church. She received her Doctor of Philosophy from Barry University in 2007.
