Highland Springs’ Third Neighborhood Coming This Year

When Highland Springs, the Erickson Senior Living community in North Dallas, Tex., opened in 2006, future plans to build a third neighborhood were already being envisioned.

Well, the future has arrived! Later this year, Highland Springs will open the Eastside Village Clubhouse, along with the newest residence building, Cypress Waters – marking the community’s final development stage.

With north- and east-facing views from their spacious two-bedroom, two-bath apartment home, Ed Dame and his wife Jan are keeping a close eye on the progress of the new neighborhood.

“Eastside Village is going to be just down the hall from us,” says Ed, who moved into the community’s first neighborhood in 2019. “We can go down a single elevator and be right there! The new woodshop will be close, and we’re excited about a new restaurant and the new reading room – and all the activities that they’ll set up there.”

Plans come to life

Across campus in Highland Springs’ sales office, Sales Director Christina Christie is just as excited about the new neighborhood.

When Christie started working at the Erickson Senior Living community in 2005, there were no neighborhoods, no clubhouses, and no apartment homes. Her office was located in the welcome center on the edge of campus, where she met with prospective residents to share the vision of a vibrant, active lifestyle.

At the time, the idea of seeing all three planned neighborhoods complete was a dream. Eighteen years later, that vision has become a reality, and Christie couldn’t be happier.

“Seeing the third and final neighborhood come to life is surreal,” Christie says. “Things have been going so well for the community because there’s a real desire for the Erickson Senior Living lifestyle. Now, we’re actually here, growing to meet that increasing demand.”

‘Great views and amenities’

Cypress Waters will add 102 apartment homes, and the Eastside Village clubhouse will include three dozen apartment homes on its second, third, and fourth floors.

“We’ve taken a lot of feedback from people on our priority list and applied it. In the third neighborhood, we’re introducing new floor plan designs that meet the needs and preferences they expressed,” says Christie. “Floor plans will include one- and two-bedroom layouts, ranging from 800 square feet up to about 1,545 square feet. And almost every apartment home will have a porch, which people love!”

Cypress Waters apartment homes will overlook a pond and freshly-landscaped grounds. The new plantings, gardens, and walking paths will allow residents to enjoy more of Highland Springs colorful, bucolic 89-acre campus.

“Cypress Waters will have lots of great views and amenities,” Christie adds.

In addition to unique residences, Cypress Waters will include a new group fitness space that’s able to accommodate pickleball – a popular sport at many Erickson Senior Living communities. There will also be a new fitness center and lounge, a state-of-the-art woodshop, a reading room, and under-building parking.

Crescent Club, a new restaurant in Eastside Village, will feature a sizable, 53-seat bar area and outdoor seating.

“We wanted our last neighborhood to be Dallas-themed,” notes Christie, “so all of the floor plan names and the new amenities will have some type of Dallas-area significance. The bar in Crescent Club is going to be called Star Lounge – very fitting for the Lone Star state!”

New opportunities abound

For Ed and Jan, the new neighborhood will bring more than just a new place to have dinner or a cocktail.

Ed, a regular at the community’s existing woodshop, is looking forward to a new, expanded woodshop – designed from the ground up specifically for woodworking.

And with a background in video production, Ed has kept busy shooting photos and video of the construction for Highland Springs’ TV channel, HSTV Channel 80. Ed and Executive Director Matt Neville share updates regularly through the station’s programming.

“Residents really enjoy following along with us as the construction progresses,” Ed says.

As Highland Springs resident guides and ambassadors, Ed and Jan are eager to help prospective and new residents get to know aspects of the growing community.

“We’re looking forward to meeting new neighbors and having more people close by,” Ed says. “We love connecting with others and showing them the new neighborhood!”
