Ice Miller is pleased to announce the addition of three distinguished partners from Mid-Atlantic-based Whiteford, Taylor & Preston. Each brings with them a wealth of leadership experience: Partners Jennifer Jackman and Kevin Hroblak served as co-leaders of their former firm’s litigation department, with Jackman co-leading the labor and employment group as well. Partner Edward Buxbaum served as co-chair of its business litigation group, and Hroblak’s deep experience will prove central to Ice Miller’s growing commercial and bankruptcy litigation practice.
Ice Miller is thrilled to welcome Jennifer, Kevin, and Ed to our team, said Ice Miller Managing Partner Michael Millikan. “Each brings a unique skillset to our firm and, together, they will extend our footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region, furthering our capabilities in the region, as well as enhancing our practices with their insights.”
Jackman is a seasoned litigator who represents employers in state and federal courts in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as throughout the United States, on all aspects of employment, from hiring to discharge. She is an experienced advisor on employee handbooks, employment contracts (including confidentiality agreements, non-solicitation, and non-competes), pay equity, wage and hour, avoiding discrimination claims, family and medical leave, fair labor standards, disability accommodations, discipline, performance improvement plans, termination, and severance agreements.
Jen is a proven and respected leader in the field, and her addition to the firm instantly fortifies our already-strong bench supporting clients and providing tailored workplace solutions to the challenges they face, both today and tomorrow, noted Ice Miller Workplace Solutions Group Leader Michael Tooley. Her particular insight into the ins and outs of employment law in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia also adds breadth to our collective capabilities.
Hroblak is an accomplished trial lawyer with more than 20 years of experience advising clients on a broad array of business litigation and governance matters. He has represented companies, trustees, creditors, special committees, and directors and officers in connection with investigations and litigation involving director and officer liability claims, mismanagement and business fraud, government and corporate investigations, professional liability insurance claims, auditing and accounting malpractice, and other business-related litigation. Hroblak also represents companies, creditors, and trustees in financial restructurings, bankruptcy proceedings, and related litigation, and handles appeals in state and federal courts across the country.
Hroblak and Jackman also have vast experience in conducting investigations into allegations of corporate governance misconduct, fraud, discrimination, and harassment, as well as investigating claims for companies, special committees of boards, trustees, and creditors.
Buxbaum has represented numerous national and international companies in civil litigation matters pending in state and federal courts. He also serves as outside coverage counsel for several regional insurers and has significant experience litigating a broad array of contractual disputes, fiduciary duty litigation, trade secret litigation, real estate related litigation, estates and trust related litigation, insurance coverage litigation, food-borne liability litigation, and accountant & auditing malpractice/professional liability cases. Buxbaum has extensive first-chair jury trial experience, having tried approximately 30 cases to verdict, and also has significant appellate experience, having argued appeals in the Maryland Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.
Ed and Kevin are top-notch litigators who will bring their hard-earned business litigation experience to our clients’ advantage, added Litigation Practice Group Leader George Gasper. “As our team continues to grow and expand our resources, their collective insight—along with Jen’s on the employment side—will further enhance the caliber of client service we provide.”
The new partners join a growing and dynamic team of more than 100 litigators across the Midwest and along the East Coast serving both U.S. and international clients.
