International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the selection of new leaders to participate in the 2023 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) programs: Partners Marshall Jackson and Arianne Plasencia as LCLD Fellows and Associates Li Wang and Kierstin Fowler as LCLD Pathfinders.
We are thrilled that Marshall, Arianne, Li and Kierstin will have the opportunity to grow their leadership skills through the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder programs, McDermott’s Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion Anthony (Tony) Upshaw said. Our commitment to the LCLD program is just one part of McDermott’s longstanding commitment to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion within the legal profession.
Marshall is based out of Washington, DC, focusing on transactional and regulatory counseling for clients in the healthcare industry as well as advising clients on the legal, regulatory and compliance aspects of digital health. He was named a DC Rising Star in 2022 by The National Law Journal and The Best Lawyers in America, Ones to Watch, Health Care Law, 2022 to 2023.
Miami-based Arianne is a private client lawyer who focuses on US & international tax matters. She provides international and domestic income, gift, and estate tax planning for entities and high-net-worth individuals with a focus on multijurisdictional families and inbound investment planning. Arianne was named one of the Best Lawyers in America, Trusts and Estates, 2023.
New York-based Li is a healthcare transactions lawyer focusing her practice on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions in the healthcare industry. She also has significant experience advising on regulatory matters related to HIPAA, health information privacy and security, genetic privacy, data subject consent requirements and research compliance.
Kierstin is based out of New York and focuses her practice on civil litigation matters in both federal and state courts. She has experience assisting in complex commercial, merger and acquisitions and securities litigation matters representing directors and officers, corporations and financial institutions. In addition, Kierstin also maintains an active pro bono practice.
The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is made up of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners —the leadership of the profession—who have pledged themselves to creating a truly diverse US legal profession. The LCLD Fellows Program aims to identify, train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal professional by connecting high-potential, diverse attorneys in a year-long program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training and peer-group projects. The Pathfinder Program connects high-potential, early-career diverse attorneys from LCLD Member organizations for a professional development program focused on foundational leadership and relationship-building, offering promising diverse associates an opportunity to set themselves up for success.
