Brown Advisory Adds Francis Brown as a Strategic Advisor to it Washington Office

Brown Advisory, a global, private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, is pleased to announce that Francis Brown has joined as a partner and Strategic Advisor, based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Brown brings more than two decades of experience as a practicing attorney, 15 of those years in wealth advisory specifically.

Before relocating to Washington, D.C. from Colorado, Mr. Brown was most recently a Director in the Family Wealth Consulting arm of Key Private Bank (KPB), providing solutions and advice for high net-worth and ultra-high net-worth individuals. Mr. Brown’s work has predominantly been focused on business owners and entrepreneurs going through business transitions covering both external sales to third parties and internal transfers to employees or family members via gift, sale, employee stock ownership or management buy-out. He led the Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) within KPB across its entire footprint. Before KPB, Mr. Brown practiced law at Davis Schilken, PC Law Offices and Brown Law in Colorado. Francis graduated from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business and received his JD and LLM from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law.

At Brown Advisory, Mr. Brown is continuing his work with business owners and entrepreneurs around wealth transfers and enhancement, risk management, tax mitigation and philanthropy. “We are thrilled to welcome Francis to the firm. His expertise working with entrepreneurs enhances our strategic advisory services,” said Sandi Moffet, partner and co-head of Strategic Advisory, “The measurable impact he will have on how we advise our clients in these areas will not only benefit our Washington, D.C. office but our firm as a whole.”

Mr. Brown’s community involvement is extensive, with posts on the Centennial Estate Council and The Denver Foundation while being on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association. He currently has membership in the National Center for Employee Ownership, the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors and the American Bar Association. He also recently joined the DC History Center, the only community-based nonprofit focused on the District’s history which works to preserve and elevate the stories of Washington’s diverse people, neighborhoods and institutions.

“Our clients have far-reaching goals regarding their life and legacy. In our experience, we have the most impact when we help clients think through their goals in a holistic manner, bring their various advisors together, and engage in meaningful and cohesive planning discussions around investment, philanthropic, fiduciary, next gen, tax and estate considerations. The addition of Francis continues our commitment to help our clients achieve long-term success in their strategic plans,” Moffet concluded.
