Alex Marriott Joins Baker Donelson as of Counsel

The law firm of Baker Donelson has expanded its Corporate Group with the addition of Alex Marriott as of counsel in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Marriott concentrates his practice on aviation transactional, regulatory, and policy matters, as well as competition issues within the aviation industry.

Mr. Marriott counsels and represents airlines, airports, and related industries on a wide range of matters before the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Department of State (DOS). He has extensive experience in the start-up of new airlines, guiding them through regulatory processes to obtain economic authority from the DOT, technical approvals from the FAA, and approvals from the DHS and its components, along with addressing issues under international bilateral aviation agreements and aviation treaties.

Mr. Marriott also advises airlines about competition issues, enforcement and fitness matters, and day-to-day operational matters, including regulatory compliance, important rulemakings, and international route authority. He focuses on security matters related to aviation and the transportation of cargo, and represents airlines during enforcement actions by the FAA, DOT, TSA, and CBP. In addition, he provides trainings to airline employees on compliance with 14 CFR 382, Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Disability in Air Travel, as well as presentations about legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting the aviation industry.

Mr. Marriott received his law degree from the George Washington University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Providence College.
