A teammate of mine recently asked: Why was one of Technical.ly’s most colorful celebrations given a name as bland as the Signature Event?
“Because,” I told her, “when we first hosted it, I was a 25-year-old journalist with a startup tech news organization without a lick of marketing savvy.”
Now, I like its understated nature. If you know, then you know. And many do know. Over the years of hosting the Signature Event to close out Philly Tech Week, we’ve flown drones at URBN, staged a VR showdown at the Pennovation Center, danced at Reading Terminal Market, played building-sized video games on a roof and hosted one of the first big public events at both Comcast buildings.
