DLA Piper announced today that Masa Kuramoto has joined the firm as a principal economist based in New York.
Kuramoto has more than 23 years of experience in transfer pricing strategy, documentation, planning and implementation, and advance pricing agreements (APA). Prior to joining DLA Piper, he was a principal at Ernst & Young LLP, where he served as head of Japanese and Asian Pacific business services in the firm’s East Region Transfer Pricing practice in New York. In this role, he prepared US transfer pricing documentation for subsidiaries of Japanese and Asia Pacific-based companies.
“Masa is an accomplished and well-respected transfer pricing professional whose addition to the firm will help us meet the demand for sophisticated guidance from clients in a wide range of industries, including the chemicals, consumer goods, steel, electronics, pharmaceuticals and automotive sectors,” said Sang Kim, global co-chair and US chair of DLA Piper’s Tax practice.
“Masa is an important addition to our team, and his skillset will be of great benefit across our global platform. His depth of experience advising companies based in Japan and in the larger Asia Pacific region will also be a key asset to clients,” said Richard Hans, managing partner of the firm’s New York office and global co-chair of DLA Piper’s Financial Services sector.
Kuramoto earned his M.S. in economics and his B.A. from Michigan State University.
