Strengthening local partnerships through the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association
Kevin Langston, Land Acquisition for Blue River Development, teams up with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) as an active member of its government affairs committee, fostering local development and collaboration with cities and counties. With his extensive experience and unique background, Langston is the ideal representative to create meaningful connections with local governments and organizations to promote and support responsible development.
Managing Principal Brad Cooper of Blue River Development applauds Langston’s work with GAHBA, stating, “Kevin’s background in economic development and his established relationships within the Georgia community are invaluable and serve the GAHBA and BRD well. His expertise in navigating complex government affairs enables us to serve our clients better and develop quality housing solutions.” Managing Principal Michael Cooper adds, “Kevin’s commitment to keeping a thumb on the pulse of future economic development is key to the growth of the Blue River footprint.”
Langston has been influential in Georgia’s economic development for over three decades, spanning roles in business recruitment, international operations, and communication. Before retiring as deputy commissioner for tourism at the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), Langston contributed significantly to positioning Georgia as a top leisure travel destination, a skill set that he now applies to land acquisition and local investment promotion.
Home builders and developers face unique challenges at the local level, making it essential for industry professionals to engage with county commissions, mayors, and other stakeholders. Langston’s current work with GAHBA includes efforts to modify legislation and collaborate with organizations such as the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). He focuses on promoting workforce housing and streamlining zoning and codes to benefit communities throughout Georgia.
As an advocate for responsible development, Langston believes working with local governments will pave the way for sustainable growth and quality of life for Georgia residents. By partnering with GAHBA, Blue River Development further demonstrates its commitment to enhancing communities and driving progress in the Greater Atlanta area.
Originally from northeast Missouri, Mr. Langston graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kansas State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University.
