Paul Hastings announced today that prominent intellectual property trial lawyer Rudy Kim has joined the firm’s top-of-market IP Litigation practice as a partner based in Palo Alto.
“With Rudy’s impressive patent litigation experience, we add further breadth to our widely recognized IP litigation practice while also demonstrating our ongoing commitment to grow in California with premier legal talent,” said Paul Hastings Chair Frank Lopez. “We couldn’t be happier that he has joined us.”
For more than two decades, Kim has represented clients in critical IP and technology-related litigation in federal district and appellate courts, in private arbitrations, and before the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His clients include a wide range of technology enterprises focused on semiconductors, autonomous vehicles, computer hardware and software, data storage, and wireless and medical devices, including companies like AEM, Autodesk, Kahoot!, Netgear, Palo Alto Networks, Tencent, TSMC, and Uber, among others.
“I’ve followed Paul Hastings’ IP practice for some time and have been impressed with the caliber of its IP litigation, ITC, and PTAB practices,” said Kim. With the firm’s extraordinary momentum and growth in other key practice areas, and its track record of litigation success, this is an exciting time to join this exceptional team of litigators. I look forward to helping the firm continue to grow its platform and its presence in Silicon Valley.”
Joining from Morrison & Foerster LLP where he chaired the Palo Alto litigation department, Kim adds breadth to the Paul Hastings IP practice while also augmenting the global litigation team, which includes IP additions Jason Raeburn in London, Doug Sawyer in Chicago, Matthias Kamber in California, and Kecia Reynolds in Washington, D.C. Other litigators who have recently joined the firm include securities litigators Brad Bondi and Jennifer Conn, and trial lawyer Josh Berman in New York, and international arbitration partner Garreth Wong in London.
With a culture of excellence and collaboration among its deep and diverse bench, impressive record of success, and the ability to handle parallel litigations regardless of the forum, the Paul Hastings IP litigation practice is consistently recognized for its exceptional work by leading directories and publications, including Chambers and Partners, IAM, The Legal 500, Managing IP, and Benchmark Litigation.
