
In addition to his being appointed to the BCEDC, Tim Kotroco has been a licensed Maryland attorney for thirty-four years with legal experience in Baltimore County Government and in private law practice.
He has been a member of the Maryland Bar since 1987 and retired from Baltimore County Government in 2013.
His vast experience in land use law had been enhanced by his appointed positions including being a Baltimore County Deputy Zoning Commissioner and Hearing Officer for twelve years, Baltimore County Administrative Law Judge for three years, and Baltimore County Director of Permits, Approvals and Inspections for eight years.
Prior to commencing his private practice as Kotroco & Associates, LLC, Mr. Kotroco was a partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston in Zoning and Land Use. His firm was formed to assist businesses and individuals navigate through the heavily regulated and bureaucratic permitting process of Baltimore County.
A star baseball player at Kenwood High School in Baltimore County, he was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Government. Thereafter, he graduated from the Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mr. Kotroco is married to his wife Laura Jean Gombert Kotroco and lives in the Hunt Valley section of North Baltimore County. They have three children – daughter Emily is an alum of the University of Alabama and practices law for the Federal Government in Washington D.C. Their son Matthew Is a University of Maryland Law School Grad and practices law with his father’s firm in Towson. Son Daniel is an Alum of Brown University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Computer Science and now works for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland,
