FARMVILLE, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–YakAttack today announced the appointment of Dave Martin as Chief Executive Officer. Founder and former CEO Luther Cifers will remain a leader in the business, focusing his efforts on new product development and continuing his aggressive drive for innovation as Founder & Chief Innovation Officer.
Cifers founded YakAttack in a garage in 2009, with a vision of bringing kayak anglers unique and innovative products. Since that time, the company has become the industry leader in kayak fishing accessories, shaping how kayak anglers’ fish with its vast offering of best-in-class products. In 2020, he partnered with L2 Capital Partners with the goal of taking YakAttack from a niche market leader to a household name in fishing and outdoor related products. Part of this plan included finding an executive leader for the business, allowing Cifers to focus on his core passion and skillset – product and technology development.

Martin has more than 25 years of relevant leadership experience, including many roles within the fishing and outdoor markets. Starting his career at Penn Fishing Tackle where he climbed the ranks to CFO and eventually CEO, Dave went on to serve other well-known companies such as Zebco, Calcutta, and Big Rock Sports in engineering, manufacturing, and executive roles.
