Richard Rivera Appointed Chair of the Mental Health & Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee

Smith, Gambrell & Russell, is pleased to announce that Jacksonville Partner Richard Rivera has been appointed as chair of the Mental Health & Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee by the president of The Florida Bar. The Mental Health & Wellness of Florida Lawyers Committee was established to implement the 2018-2019 Florida Bar Strategic Planning Priority, which focuses on the mental health and wellness of Florida lawyers, and to continue the work started by the Special Committee on Mental Health and Wellness of Florida Lawyers. Mr. Rivera’s one-year term began on July 1.

Mr. Rivera previously served as vice chair of the Committee for the prior two years and has served as the Young Lawyers Division’s liaison to the Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs in the American Bar Association.

Mr. Rivera is a partner in SGR’s Jacksonville office and a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property practices. His litigation practice is focused on commercial litigation, with a special emphasis in defending actions brought under consumer protection statutes, such as the FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, and their state-level counterparts. Mr. Rivera’s intellectual property practice is concentrated in advising clients in matters involving intellectual property (trademark and copyright), compliance with state and federal laws governing sweepstakes and other promotional activities, software and internet technology, marketing, and licensing issues.
