Marney Coleman Joins Trammell Crow Company as Sustainability Manager

Trammell Crow Company, a global commercial real estate developer, continues to bolster its sustainability staff with the hiring of Marney Coleman as Sustainability Manager. Marney, based in Chicago, will partner with TCC’s Director of Sustainability, James Murray-Coleman, to help drive the firm’s strategies around sustainability, focusing on the decarbonization of TCC’s portfolio of industrial, office and multifamily projects.

“We are excited to welcome Marney to Trammell Crow Company, where she joins a team that is passionate about guiding the business towards its goal of being a Net-Zero developer by 2040,” said Murray-Coleman, who was appointed as TCC’s Director of Sustainability in 2022. “As the largest developer in the United States, TCC influences the way buildings are designed, built, and operated and we have a responsibility to de-carbonize our platform and to future-proof our projects on behalf of our investors, tenants and partners. I look forward to working with Marney to further develop our firm’s sustainability practices in the U.S. and across the globe.”

Marney’s experience includes a role with BlocPower, where she developed strategic and sustainable recommendations for the company’s core competencies within the building HVAC electrification space. She previously held roles at Resource Label Group, where she was a EDF Climate Corps Fellow, and the Academy for Global Citizenship, where she was Sustainability Coordinator.

“I am passionate about the intersection of decarbonization and the built environment, which is what makes this new role with TCC so compelling. The scope and scale of TCC’s development footprint has the ability to influence and support change across not only the company’s portfolio, but the industry at large,” shared Coleman. “I am excited to tap into my expertise and experience in technical sustainability analysis, stakeholder engagement, as well as leadership and management and bring positive change to the real estate development industry.”

Marney earned her MBA/MS in Sustainability from the Erb Institute for Global Sustainability at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and School of Environment and Sustainability. She earned her BA in Environmental Studies and International Studies from American University.
