Building Owners & Managers Association Of Greater New York Announces Nominee Selections For 2023 Pinnacle Awards

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA New York) is pleased to announce a total of 41 nominees across 18 categories for its upcoming annual Pinnacle Awards celebration at Pier Sixty on Thursday, September 28, 2023 beginning at 5:30 PM. The nominees of these awards include exemplary individuals within their respective professions as well as outstanding buildings in New York City. All nominees undergo an extensive submission process recognizing individuals and buildings that best embody the passion and professionalism that can only be found in New York City.

Celebrating Achievement in Leadership

The Pinnacle Awards stand as the unparalleled epitome of distinction in the realm of Commercial Real Estate. The acknowledgment of invaluable contributions to the industry takes center stage in the form of distinguished awards, including the coveted titles of Outstanding Local Member of the Year, Manager of the Year, Operating and Chief Engineer of the Year, Janitorial Professional of the Year, Security Professional of the Year, and Fire Life Safety Director of the Year. Each of these categories highlights outstanding individuals whose unwavering commitment and remarkable achievements have positively impacted the Commercial Real Estate domain. Additionally, titles will be given for Historical Building of the Year, the Earth Award, Renovated Building of the Year, New Construction Building of the Year, Mixed Use Building of the Year, and Operating Building of the Year. The nominees not only exemplify unwavering dedication to the mission of BOMA New York but also epitomize an unyielding commitment to the welfare of tenants, clients, and the entire metropolis. The Grand Pinnacle Award recognizes the building with the highest overall score.

The Durst Organization has been nominated for the Henry J. Muller Achievement Award recognizing vision for New York.

The nominee in the Outstanding Local Member of the Year category is Christopher Cayten of CodeGreen Solutions.

The nominees for Manager of the Year for the 3 to 10-year category are  Shakia Hill of Vornado Realty Trust, Rebecca Langendoen of Cannon Hill Capital Partners and Sandy Forbes, RPA, LEED GA of Cushman & Wakefield. Rock Harding of L&L Holding Company, Jennifer Ciccotto of SL Green Realty Corp., Marco Bulzomi of Rockefeller Group, and Peter Baracski of Cushman & Wakefield are nominated for Manager of the Year in the 10-year plus experience category.

Nicholas Lanai of SL Green Realty Corp. and Tyler Moreno of Related are nominated for Operating Engineer of the Year, while nominees for Chief Operating Engineer of the Year include Anthony Marinelli  of Paramount Group, William Hurd of SL Green Realty Corp., Kenneth Jackowski of EJM Equities INC., Jeremiah McGinley of George Comfort & Sons, Robert Figler of Vornado Realty Trust, Frank Varone of Cushman & Wakefield, and Marc Scaglioni of Related Companies.

The nominees in the Janitorial Professional of the Year category are Keith Garcia of Paramount Group, Michael Richardson of SL Green Realty Corp., and John Espinosa of Brookfield Properties.

The nominees in the Security Professional of the Year category include Jody Almodovar of Hudson Yards (10 HY) and Paul Chabot of Paramount Group.

The nominees in the Fire Life Safety Director of the Year category include Dante Thompson of Paramount Group, Gordon Layburn of Tishman Speyer, Dan Dempsey of JP Morgan Chase / Metro Fire, and Sharon Faulkner of Paramount Group.

Recognizing Excellence Throughout the City

Historical Building of the Year with nominees include Cannon Hill Capital Partners and Vornado Realty Trust, for 888 Broadway, The ABC Carpet Building and Penn 11, 393 Seventh Avenue, respectively. Cushman & Wakefield’s 730 3rd Avenue is up for Renovated Building of the Year. JEMB’s 1 Willoughby Square, SL Green Realty Corp.’s 100 Park Avenue and Empire State Realty Trust’s Empire State Building are nominated for Earth Building of the Year.

The Operating Building of the Year Awards are divided into four categories this year, with SL Green Realty Corps.’ One Vanderbilt Avenue in the over one million square foot category. JLL’s 320 Park Avenue is nominated in the 500,000-square foot to one million square foot category. JSM Associates 1, LLC c/o Edward J. Minskoff Equities, Inc.’s 51 Astor Place and Vornado Realty Trust’s 7 West 34th Street nominated in the 250,000-square foot to 499,999-square foot category. Newmark’s 4 Columbus Circle is nominated in the 100,000-square foot to 249,000-square foot category.

The New Construction of the Year Award nominee is 50 Hudson Yards of Related Companies. Oculus at World Trade Center is nominated for Mixed Use Building of the Year.
