The dynamic indoor-outdoor culinary destination boosts beverage selections with non-alcoholic options
The three-acre indoor-outdoor restaurant, bar and event space on Atlanta’s Westside, Westside Motor Lounge, has added several zero-proof custom cocktails and canned options to its robust cocktail menu. Cocktails such as The Blood Rose, Black Sails, Echo Cooler and OTC plus five packaged beverages are all available for those who wish to consume spirit-free beverages.
“Mixers and soda don’t always cut it for those who can’t or choose not to drink alcohol,” said Kelly Campbell, partner at STHRN Hospitality Co. and operator of Westside Motor Lounge. “Zero-proof cocktails and beer offer an option that gives a similar look, taste and experience to alcoholic beverages. We want our guests to feel welcome when they visit Westside Motor Lounge, and hope this menu adds to the inclusive environment we’re building.”
Westside Motor Lounge sources the non-alcoholic beverages from The Zero Proof shop, to ensure they are sourcing the best-in-class zero-proof products in the market. Zero-proof cocktails and beer differ from mocktails as they are created with the same care, creation and taste as alcoholic beverages. With blood orange, lime and rosemary, the Blood Rose cocktails creates a delicate balance between citrus and tropical spices. The Black Sails balances Ginish London Botanical with a sweet and citrusy finish. The Echo Cooler has cucumber oleo and rosemary basil simple syrup, giving it bright botanical notes and an herbaceous follow through. The OTC is a tiki-style mocktail featuring bright tropical citrus and earthy notes.
Five different canned cocktails and beers are also offered. The ISH Spritz includes lemon and orange for a balance of tang and sweetness. With nuanced juniper, citrus, and floral notes, the St. Agrestis Phony Negroni drinks with the same bitterness drinkers of the classic cocktail expect, sans alcohol. The Oddbird Sparking Wine is matured for up to 12 months, and then gently liberated from alcohol in order to preserve the flavors nature intended. The Athletic Hazy IPA Free Wave is loaded with Amarillo, Citra, and Mosaic hops. The Brooklyn Brewery Special Effects tastes like a normal beer, made with a fermentation method that develops the flavors, aromas and character of beer with none of the alcohol.
In addition to its zero-proof options, Westside Motor Lounge has robust custom cocktail menus in the Main Bar and cocktail lounge and listening room, the West Bar. Highlights include the Mustang Sally, a gin, strawberry, blank vermouth and bitters drink; the frozen Pink Cadillac Margarita, made with reposado tequila, orange liqueur, strawberry and citrus; the Engine Rev with vodka, local coffee, vanilla, chocolate bitters and cinnamon salt; and several more.
Kelsey Kenny serves as the bar manager, overseeing and implementing the entirety of the Westside Motor Lounge bar program, which was created by consultant and notable mixologist Kellie Thorn.
Kenny said, “This new generation of drinkers is doing it differently. Gen Z seems to be more conscientious about what they consume. It’s really refreshing and cool to see as a bar manager.”
