Signature event helps Maryland veterans overcome homelessness, addiction & unemployment

The Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training, Inc. (MCVET) – the nation’s premier program for helping homeless veterans and veterans in need heal and achieve independence, self-sufficiency and permanent housing – invites those near and far to take part in its 2023 5K/10K Veterans Day Virtual Run & Walk.

Runners and walkers can operate at their own pace – outside or on a treadmill – alone or with a group of friends, from Nov. 9 through 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 13 to complete a 1-mile walk, run, or activity; 3.1 miles for the 5K or 6.2 miles for the 10K.

“Ensuring veterans continue to have access to much-needed services is critical to the health of a community,” said MCVET Executive Director Misty Bruce. “We encourage folks in Maryland and beyond to join us this Veterans Day in honoring our nation’s heroes; giving thanks where none is expected but greatly deserved.”

All participants will be automatically entered in prize drawings taking place Nov. 13 for gift cards/certificates from brand stores, hotels, restaurants and steakhouses and online merchants.

Proceeds from the Veteran’s Day 1Mile/5K/10K Virtual Run & Walk will help MCVET continue to provide Housing, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counseling, Education & Employment Services, Case Management and other comprehensive services to help veterans rejoin their communities as productive citizens. Entry fees are $25 and $35 with online registration available at https://tinyurl.com/MCVET-Virtual-Run.
