
Guillermo “Willy” Ramirez, an expert in root cause analysis and the investigation of major loss events, has joined Thornton Tomasetti’s Forensics practice as a vice president.
Working from the Austin office, Ramirez will assist clients with forensic and advanced engineering, incident investigation, failure analysis, material performance and composition, and litigation support. He has more than 30 years of experience in the design and evaluation of structures.
Ramirez has a Ph.D. in structural engineering and engineering mechanics and a master’s degree in structural engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and Mexico. Ramirez is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society for Nondestructive Testing, American Concrete Institute and the Society for Experimental Mechanics. He was previously with Envista Forensics.
