Annual Exhibit and Auction Showcases Artists with Developmental Disabilities
The Arc Baltimore will hold its largest and most anticipated annual event – Art in the Round – this Friday, October 13, 6:30 -10:30 p.m., at the Grand Lodge of Maryland (304 International Circle, Hunt Valley, MD).
Showcasing the talent and artistry of people with developmental disabilities, The Arc Baltimore’s annual art exhibit and fund-raising auction will feature more than 60 pieces of artwork.
Art in the Round attendees will have the opportunity to bid on the artwork while enjoying hors d’oeuvres, an open bar featuring a specialty drink, the “Toast to Tuscany” raffle, the Fund the Mission appeal, and lots of opportunities to meet with the artists and discuss the inspiration behind their artwork. As a special treat, this year’s event will also feature a live art creation by one of Art in the Round’s premier painters, Gregory Bannister
“Art in the Round is The Arc Baltimore’s biggest fund-raising event, with proceeds helping to support art classes, workshops, and other mission-related programs for people with developmental disabilities,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. “I hope everyone has the opportunity to attend Art in the Round, hear the stories behind the curated artwork, and learn more about the intersection between art and disability.”
Featured artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold during Art in the Round. In addition, “The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster,” Durkin explains.
Artwork exhibited at Art in the Round has been chosen by a selection committee of esteemed members from the Baltimore art community. Profile videos of the artists and event posters throughout the years can be seen on the Art in the Round website at www.thearcbaltimore.org/art.
Scientific Plant Services once again serves as Art in the Round’s Title Event Patron. Other patrons include: Total Wine & More (Toast to Tuscany Patron); Whiting-Turner (Mobile Bidding Patron); Charm City Frameworks (Framing Patron); Ten Oaks Homes (Artist Profile Patron); Oak View Group (Feast Patron); Wegman’s (Mission Patron); and Renaye James Healthcare Advisors (Centerpiece Patron).
More than 400 people are expected to attend this year’s Art in the Round. Tickets are $100 per person and $900 for a reserved table of 10.
