Residents from Seabrook, an Erickson Senior Living-community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, celebrated Earth Day with a unique Treasure Hunt on the community’s Great Lawn along with a hearty walk, led by Fitness Center staff, around the campus pond.
Resident Dick Barrett brought the fun and interactive concept of geocaching to Seabrook. He worked with Seabrook’s Community Resources Department to create a new Earth Day tradition: The Great Seabrook Search!
Residents, playing in teams or alone, used their smartphone and the What3Words app to search and find their assigned “caches” hidden around campus. All teams and participants who successfully found their items received a prize and were entered into a raffle to win dinner and drink certificates to Seabrook’s new restaurant on campus, the Essex Pub.
“It was a wonderful way to celebrate Earth Day,” said Community Resources Manager Natalie Battifora. “Residents had a great time getting together to use newly learned technology and enjoy Seabrook’s beautiful grounds.”
