Ricky Polston, a partner in the Tallahassee office of Shutts & Bowen LLP and Chair of the firm’s Constitutional Law Section, is now a panel member of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) National Roster of Arbitrators.

About Ricky L. Polston
Ricky Polston is a partner in the Tallahassee office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is the Chair of the Constitutional Law Section and a member of the Appellate, Government Law, Insurance, and Litigation practice groups. He was a former Florida Supreme Court Justice for over 14 years, from 2008-2023, and was Chief Justice from 2012-14. He also served as a Judge at the Florida First District Court of Appeal for 8 years. During his tenure as an appellate jurist, he handled thousands of cases, resulting in innumerable published opinions, and addressed a wide variety of issues that would be expected to arise in arbitration matters, including high profile multi-party complex civil cases. Polston was an adjunct law professor at the Florida State University College of Law for 20 years, teaching various courses including Insurance Law, Florida Constitutional Law, and Florida Alternative Dispute Resolution. Prior to becoming a judge, Polston practiced law for 14 years in commercial litigation, various insurance coverage disputes, reinsurance litigation, and property tax issues. Polston is also a Certified Public Accountant and has been for 45 years. Prior to his legal career, he practiced accounting with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, in Florida for 7 years.
