ABFE, a philanthropic partnership for Black communities, is launching its inaugural Give Day on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The new fundraising campaign fosters a spirit of unity among donors to help ABFE raise $150,000 toward advancing its mission, maintaining its historical 52-year legacy and reinforcing an unwavering dedication to advancing racial equity and philanthropy.
“ABFE has stood at the forefront of change, advocating for justice, equity, and the empowerment of Black communities both within the country and across the diaspora,”says Susan Taylor Batten, ABFE president and CEO. “We are still grappling with the painful legacy of white supremacy, bias, exclusion, and discrimination. ABFE’s mission is not just relevant; it’s desperately needed now more than ever. We must come together as a community, raise our voices, and take meaningful action to address these deeply ingrained issues. Our collective support and commitment to change are essential.”
The generous donations will be channeled towards strengthening ABFE’s foundation and infrastructure, enabling ABFE to drive transformative initiatives and signature events that directly address disparities in Black communities and nurture and support the voices of Black leaders in philanthropy.
ABFE offers advocacy, knowledge, training and technical assistance, networking and convening, and professional and leadership development opportunities to equip the Black community with vital tools and strategies to prevail against increasing societal constraints. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ABFE collaborated with over 60 Black philanthropic CEOs in the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, to establish a set of imperatives to ensure the well-being of Black communities during the crisis. ABFE’s long-term goal is for Black people to enjoy freedom from disparate treatment derived from nearly every well-being indicator.
