Foley Hoag LLP announced today that John Lanza has joined the firm as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department and Technology Industry Group. Lanza is a patent attorney with nearly three decades of experience counseling startups and established companies in the fast-paced technology sector.
“John excels at helping companies, both big and small, ensure that their IP strategy aligns with their business goals,” said Erik Huestis, Co-chair of the Technology Industry Group at Foley Hoag. “John brings deep experience in enterprise software and advertising technology. His arrival broadens the expertise of our growing high-tech team within the Intellectual Property Department. We are particularly excited by the synergies between Foley Hoag’s leading AI practice and John’s work with application providers in various fields.”
Lanza joins Foley Hoag from Foley & Lardner, and will be resident in the Boston office. Throughout his career, Lanza has made a reputation of providing practical, data-driven counsel on acquiring, transferring, and protecting intellectual property rights for enterprise software, semiconductor, and advertising technology companies. He is a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst.
“Foley Hoag has a robust emerging technology practice, and their dedication to client service is unmatched,” said Lanza. “I’m pleased to join such esteemed colleagues and look forward, in particular, to working with the patent prosecution team to expand our respective practices.”
Lanza’s hiring bolsters the expanding intellectual property group at the firm. He joins Foley Hoag just weeks after a team led by partner Amy Baker Mandragouras arrived from Cooley.
Lanza received his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law, and both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
