A Night To Remember: Chanukah Joy Illuminates The Jewish Federation Of South Palm Beach County

PJ Library® in South Palm Beach County hosted a spectacular Chanukah celebration on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, the seventh night of Chanukah. Open to the community, the event brought families together for an evening of festive activities, culminating in a candle-lighting ceremony and a special Chanukah concert featuring Latin Grammy Award-winning artist Mister G.

Hosted on the campus of the Jewish Federation of SPBC, the celebration brought families, friends, and community members of all ages together to share the joy of the holiday season. At 6:15 pm, attendees gathered for the Candle Lighting ceremony with our local community Rabbis, a cherished tradition that illuminated the spirit of the Festival of Lights. In addition to Mister G’s captivating performance, the event featured arts and crafts, traditional treats like latkes and donuts, and various activities tailored for different age groups.

A special highlight included a photo opportunity with Chanukah Mickey Mouse and a Chanukah dreidel, allowing attendees to capture and cherish memories from the festive occasion.

Elana Ostroff, PJ Library Director, expressed her gratitude for the event’s success, stating, “We are thrilled with the overwhelming response and the sense of togetherness that filled the air during our Community-wide Chanukah Celebration,” Said Ostroff. “Mister G’s performance, coupled with the engaging activities, has created lasting memories for our community, strengthening our bonds during this special time.”

Rabbi Josh Broide, Director of the Community Engagement, reflected on the opportunity to celebrate with so many local families. “We are deeply moved by the true spirit of community that illuminated PJ Library’s Chanukah celebration, where families from all walks of life joined together. Witnessing our local synagogue Rabbis lighting the candles side by side symbolized the unity that defines the strength of our community,” Said Broide. “In these shared moments, we not only celebrated the Festival of Lights but also embraced the diverse tapestry that makes us stronger together.”
