New Year Will Bring New Amenities For Cedar Crest Residents

Nothing rings in the New Year like new restaurants and fitness venues to help residents meet their health and wellness goals!

At Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Pompton Plains, N.J., the upgraded Woodland Commons Clubhouse will offer an array of state-of-the-art amenities to help residents enjoy life to the fullest.

“Residents will really benefit from Woodland Commons’ renovations,” says Sales Director Ray Guarino. “They already lead such active lives, but with the new restaurants, media lounge, and virtual golf simulator, residents will have even more opportunities to socialize and explore new interests.”

Delicious dining

Overlook Restaurant and Woodland Bistro, Woodland Commons’ reimagined dining venues, will be perfect for on-the-go residents.

Woodland Bistro–located on the first floor–is a new, fast-casual eatery and gathering spot that takes advantage of the clubhouse’s open areas and adjoining outdoor features.

“A horseshoe pitch, bocce court, and landscaped patio sit just outside Woodland Commons,” says Guarino. “The Woodland Bistro will flow right into these spaces, which will be so convenient for the many people who get together for lunch after an activity. Now that recreation, social, and dining spaces are right next to each other, the clubhouse is really going to come alive.”

The bistro’s modern color palette features earth tones with pops of blue that run through the comfortable and stylish furniture, complementary flooring, and stunning artwork.

Tech-savvy

As more and more residents upgrade their desktop computers to laptops and acquire digital devices like tablets and smartphones, they’ve moved away from needing so-called “computer rooms.”

Instead, a more social and flexible media lounge is being introduced at Cedar Crest and a number of other Erickson Senior Living communities.

“Our new media lounge will be located near the entrance of Woodland Commons,” says Guarino. “It’s called a media lounge because the space is specifically designed to accommodate all different kinds of technology. There will be lots of outlets, tables, and countertops so people can bring their laptops, tablets, and e-readers.”

He adds, “Whether you’re looking to work by yourself on a newsletter or club meeting agenda or sit with others to get some tech tips, the media lounge will be a great resource.”

New fitness space

Prior to recent renovations, the clubhouse had a satellite fitness room. For most exercise classes and a larger variety of workout equipment, residents of the Woodland Commons neighborhood crossed campus to the main fitness center in Village Square.

Now, Woodland Commons will have one of the largest fitness centers on campus–so residents can stay in their neighborhood, making fitness routines more convenient and easier to stick to.

Resident Michelle Lockard-Arnold, an avid swimmer, stays active outside the pool by using NuStep cross trainers and elliptical machines and attending Stretch & Tone classes.

“The new fitness center in Woodland Commons is going to be so convenient for me. I can’t wait for it to open!” Michelle says. “Now, the equipment I need will be even closer to my apartment home.”

State-of-the-art equipment, such as the Echelon Connect and Echelon Reflect (computer-connected exercise bikes), workout mirrors, and smart treadmills with TV screens will also be added to the fitness center in Woodland Commons.

“The NuStep machines continue to be popular,” Fitness Manager Stacey Myers-Smith. “It’s definitely the most requested piece of equipment. It’s great that we’ll be getting more in the new fitness center!”

Fore!

If a relaxing day on the green is more your speed, Woodland Commons will have you covered–from rain, that is.

A new golf simulator in the community’s virtual room, adjacent to the clubhouse’s new fitness center, will allow residents to tread the links even in bad weather.

“Residents and their family and friends will be able to play golf all year round,” Guarino says. “Up here in North Jersey, from about October to April, no one’s playing golf outside. But inside Woodland Commons, you can select any number of famous courses to play on.”

So, from food to fitness to “fore,” Cedar Crest residents will have plenty of new and exciting spaces to explore in Woodland Commons.

“The energy from Woodland Commons’ upgrades will invigorate the whole campus,” Guarino says. “When something’s new, it brings people together, and that’s exactly what Cedar Crest is all about–togetherness.”
