Philadelphia-based BKP Architects (BKP) today announced a leadership transition as Principal Caitlin A. Daley, AIA, becomes President and assumes majority firm ownership. Founding partners Darrell Kratzer, AIA, LEED AP, and Joseph Powell, AIA, LEED AP, will continue in firm leadership alongside Daley. The change transitions BKP to a woman-owned business, for which certification is pending.
Daley has been a BKP partner and principal since 2020, leading the firm’s architecture and planning work throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Her management includes design and oversight of significant projects for Gallaudet University, Bryn Mawr College, and the University of Pennsylvania.
“BKP has nearly 30 years of experience providing design services with hands-on principal involvement. I’m excited to take the helm and continue the values and vision that have always guided the firm,” said Daley. “Our practice and approach to architecture will not change; we’re simply continuing the BKP legacy.”
“Caitlin has demonstrated a commitment to the collaborative nature of our practice and contributed enthusiasm, energy, and creativity to the studio over the last 13 years. As Joe and I look forward to the future, we know that her passion for our clients and ourwork will help BKP grow and thrive,” said Kratzer.
“BKP will remain a relationship-based, collaborative, and innovative firm,” added Powell. “Just as we try to think proactively about our clients’ needs, we are being thoughtful and intentional about the firm’s future.”
Since joining BKP in 2010, Daley has demonstrated proficiency in all phases of project development, including fostering neighborhood support for public projects and working closely with clients to ensure design solutions meet their physical and financial goals. As an integral part of BKP operations, she has managed staffing, participated in business development pursuits, and contributed to strategic planning.
Daley holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Pennsylvania State University and NCARB certification. She is a registered architect in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and a member of the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) and the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP). She has written for American School & University magazine about her foodservice design projects at Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Daley is past president, current team captain, and player on the Philadelphia Falcons Soccer Club. She lives in South Philadelphia.
