Burns & Levinson announced today that Mark Manning, a partner in the firm’s Corporate Group and member of the Executive Committee, has been named to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, Manning will serve on the Academic Mission Committee and on the Financial Affairs Committee as part of its Investment Subcommittee.
In his corporate practice, Manning concentrates on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), growth capital, and intellectual property. He regularly facilitates M&A deals across a wide variety of industry sectors for buyers and sellers, negotiates growth capital financings for emerging businesses and capital sources, and serves as outside general counsel to clients. He also helps clients commercialize their intellectual property, develop inbound and outbound licensing arrangements, and craft appropriate ownership and usage rights for jointly developed IP. Beyond his Executive Committee leadership role, Manning has served on multiple internal committees steering the future of the firm, including its DEI Board.
“I am honored to have been elected to Clarkson University’s Board of Trustees,” said Manning. “I received a great education and made lifelong friends at Clarkson. I also grew up in Potsdam, NY, so it is a place I still call home. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with this institution which has given so much to me.”
Manning previously served for nine years as President and Chairman of a leading Boston metro area nonprofit, Dedham Community House. He currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee for Ursuline Academy, a college preparatory school in Dedham, MA. He was recently named a 2024 Lawdragon 500 Leading Dealmaker. Manning received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law (1991) and his B.S., with distinction, from Clarkson University (1988).
