Miles & Stockbridge announced today that Nancy W. Greene has been elected by the law firm’s principals to a third term as chairman. Greene also continues to serve as president and chief executive officer of the mid-Atlantic firm.
“Nancy and I joined Miles & Stockbridge a year apart about 25 years ago, so I’ve had a front row seat to her leadership and I greatly admire her dedication and drive through the years,” said Suzzanne W. Decker, principal and board member. “As a young associate, Nancy lobbied for policies supporting working parents. As a principal and practice group leader, she helped build one of the most sophisticated real estate and transactional finance practices for clients across the mid-Atlantic and beyond. And, as chairman, she is leading the firm in innovative client service, strategic growth and record financial success. With this strong foundation and forward momentum under Nancy’s leadership, we are in an ideal position to help our clients and colleagues grow and succeed in the ways that are uniquely important to them.”
Greene joined Miles & Stockbridge’s board of directors in 2017 and was elected to her first three-year term as chairman of the firm in 2018, becoming the first woman to lead Miles & Stockbridge in its 92-year history. She was elected to her second term in 2021. At that time, she also became president and chief executive officer, when the firm changed its leadership structure and consolidated the three roles.
During Greene’s terms, she has launched a strategic plan focused on operational excellence, growth and innovative client service, and the law firm has achieved record annual revenues and profits, opened new, state-of-the-art office space in Richmond, added a new C-suite role of chief legal operations officer to identify and institute even better ways to work with clients and devoted thousands of hours in pro bono representation in matters related to international child abduction, domestic violence, veterans and their families and the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I am honored to serve another term as chairman,” said Greene. “To see the big picture of positive firm, client and community work being done by every practice, department and office across Miles & Stockbridge is truly overwhelming and why I enjoy this job so much. Despite ever-changing market conditions, Miles & Stockbridge continues to grow and achieve incredible results for our clients, and I look forward to furthering that standard of excellence over the next three years.
“And, with this success, I am prioritizing another goal this year…instilling happiness in our daily work. Some may not believe it is possible or even our responsibility as a firm to focus on happiness, but what if we just tried? I believe that if we all try a little, it will make a big difference in everything we do.”
