
This year, Mark Anthony Thomas joined The Red & Black’s Board of Directors, bringing more than two decades of experience in economic development, communications, public policy and city development. During his time at The Red & Black in 1999, he served as the first Black editor in chief.
Before entering his current role as president and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee, Thomas served as the president of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, senior vice president of partnerships at the New York Economic Development Corporation and board chair of the Power of 32 Site Development Fund.
After graduating from the Terry College of Business with a degree in marketing, he earned a master’s from Columbia University and another master’s from MIT. Thomas was previously presented a Top 40 University of Georgia Alumni Under 40 award.
