Edgemere, a premier senior living community in North Dallas and the number one continuing care retirement community in Texas according to Newsweek, is pleased to announce Teresa Bates has been promoted to executive director. Teresa brings more than 25 years of senior living experience to the community. She started with Edgemere in 2002 and assisted with the opening of its health center. Teresa held several positions within the community for 17 years before returning in 2022, as the associate executive director.
“I am honored to take on the role as executive director at Edgemere,” said Teresa. “The community holds a special place in my heart – having spent more than half of my career serving seniors here. Taking on this new responsibility is rewarding, and I look forward to making a difference in the lives of seniors in Dallas.”
As executive director at Edgemere, Teresa oversees the daily operations of the community across all departments and team members. Her goal is to provide the safest place for residents to live and team members to work, while meeting and exceeding company expectations.
“Teresa’s history with the community is invaluable, and her dedication to senior living makes her the perfect fit to lead Edgemere,” said Chris Silasavage, director of sales. “Her passion and ability to help seniors reimagine their next chapter is one-of-a-kind, and we are lucky to have her leading the community and providing residents with a place to live a vibrant life full of purpose, friendship, and fun.”
Teresa’s introduction to the senior living industry occurred when her mother, a nurse, began working with seniors. After she completed college, her mentor, who owned and managed senior living communities, extended an invitation for her to join their leadership team. It was during these times that Teresa’s deep affection and passion for serving seniors blossomed.
“Teresa is an exceptional leader, and we are excited about her stepping into the executive director position,” said David Lawlor, president and CEO of the Long Hill Company. “We look forward to collaborating with Teresa and her leadership team to continue delivering an extraordinary senior living experience that our residents have come to expect and has positioned us as the number one continuing care retirement community in Texas in 2024 by Newsweek.”
