Tishman Speyer To Welcome Mirage By MGM Shanghai Hotel To AXIOM Tower B At The Springs

Tishman Speyer today announced a hotel management agreement with Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality to create and operate a Mirage by MGM within the final mixed-use tower being developed at The Springs in Shanghai.

Mirage by MGM Shanghai will be located within AXIOM Tower B, a 56-story tower that Tishman Speyer is developing with Chengtou Holding. Tower B, which envisions premium offices, a theater, retail, an inspired food & beverage program and a range of hospitality-infused amenities, is one of a pair of iconic skyscrapers known as the “Eye of Wisdom” that comprise the final phase of The Springs development.  The 280-meter (919-foot) AXIOM Tower A was completed in 2023, while the 250-meter (820-foot) AXIOM Tower B is slated for completion in 2025.

As one of the iconic brands under MGM Resorts International, Mirage by MGM hotel ingeniously integrates modern vitality and exciting entertainment into their hospitality, creating extraordinary and unique guest experiences. Mirage by MGM Shanghai, which will open in 2027, will feature 205 luxury rooms, world-class event spaces, top-tier fitness facilities and other upscale amenities from the ground floor to the 18th floor.

Patrons will also have full access to the integrated food & beverage destination being curated on the fifth floor, which will bring together specialty restaurants, bars and an outdoor terrace connected to a swimming pool that will serve as a fashionable sanctuary.  The hotel skillfully integrates the vibrant characteristics of the AXIOM community, offering a variety of entertainment and leisure experiences including a multi-functional banquet hall on the first-floor, capable of hosting various events and performances.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Mirage by MGM to The Springs, a growing community of the world’s most iconic brands and foremost innovators,” said Tishman Speyer CEO Rob Speyer.  “This partnership reinforces our vision of The Springs as a destination for creativity, commerce and recreation.”

MGM Resorts International CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle added, “The AXIOM Tower of The Springs is a striking reflection of Shanghai’s unique oasis cityscape. This is the perfect home for the Mirage brand. I believe our collaboration with Tishman Speyer and Chengtou Holding will make Mirage by MGM Shanghai a vibrant and popular destination in this thriving district.”

The AXIOM towers are the final pieces of a 900,230-square-meter (10 million-square-foot) mixed-use development launched by Tishman Speyer in 2011.  The Springs features creative offices, new residences, hotels, restaurants, retail, entertainment and cultural venues.  Located on a 26.6-hectacre (66-acre) former airfield situated adjacent to a 13.4-hectacre (33-acre) ecological reserve in Shanghai’s Yangpu District, The Springs also features an array of public parks, gardens, playgrounds and other open spaces.

Tishman Speyer initially developed ten LEED Gold office buildings, which opened in phases between 2014 and 2019.  The firm leased the 200,000-square-meter (2.12 million-square-foot) office campus up to 99 percent to leading multinational companies including Nike and Henkel before selling in 2022.  In 2021, Tishman Speyer sold four additional under-development office buildings to Douyin Group, formerly known as ByteDance, for its regional headquarters campus.
