CHAP to Mark 60th Anniversary with Talk On State of Historic Preservation in Baltimore

Baltimore has one of the oldest preservation commissions in the country: the Baltimore City Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation, or CHAP, founded in 1964.

To mark the 60th anniversary of the city agency, now part of Baltimore’s planning department, executive director Eric Holcomb will present a talk entitled “A Conversation with the Past: Historic Preservation in Baltimore,” about the history and role of local historic preservation in Baltimore.

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, May 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Wheeler Auditorium at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, 400 Cathedral Street. It’s the first in a yearlong series of events that CHAP is planning to mark its 60th anniversary. Holcomb’s remarks on Wednesday will be followed by a ceremony honoring historic preservation leaders.
