Beckett will take up residence in Key Biscayne and will operate from Burgess’ flagship Miami office, situated on the 27th floor of the prestigious 1450 Brickell office tower on Miami’s famed Brickell Avenue, often referred to as Wall Street South. Beckett joins a number of high-profile corporate heads, including Jeff Bezos and Carl Icahn, who have made Miami their home base.
A highly respected figure in the yachting world, Beckett joined Burgess at the age of 23. Working initially in Monaco with the company’s founder Nigel Burgess, Jonathan moved to the UK to launch the London operation. Under his leadership, Burgess has transformed into a comprehensive service company with specialist divisions in all aspects of the superyacht industry and offices around the globe.
Burgess enjoyed a strong year in 2023 with more than $1.3 billion in brokerage sales, including the exciting sale of the first-ever Amels 80. In Charter, 804 trips were booked by the team, meaning Burgess clients collectively spent 942 weeks or 6,807 days aboard this year. Jonathan Beckett attributed much of the success to the ever-buoyant US market, with 40 percent of all brokerage transactions and 50 percent of its clients embarking on a charter in the USA market alone.
