Walmart Celebrates 50-Year Retiring Pharmacist Alongside NFL Legend

Dallas Cowboys Legend, Emmitt Smith, made a surprise appearance to celebrate the decades-long career of care Walmart pharmacist, Bruce Blackwell, provided to the Texas community

Today, Walmart teamed up with former Dallas Cowboys running back and NFL legend, Emmitt Smith, to honor the 50-year career of retiring pharmacist, Bruce Blackwell. Bruce’s impact on the health and wellness of Gonzales customers and patients spans generations.

“Today is about highlighting the incredible work of pharmacists like Bruce who dedicate their careers to serving the community every day,” said Emmitt Smith. “Bruce embodies what it means to be a true servant leader.

Walmart has a long history of supporting its local communities and the event is a reflection of the company’s commitment to using its strength to help impact and uplift those who keep the community safe – the everyday heroes.

Smith’s surprise visit takes place in conjunction with Men’s Health Month to help shine a light on the role pharmacists play in helping with a variety of healthcare needs. From immunizations to basic health screenings and consultations – pharmacies are one of the most accessible and convenient points of care. The dedication and efforts of pharmacists like Bruce continue to allow American communities to live better.
