
Malena Galletto, a Bronx Science HS Graduate and Longtime Kweller Prep Student, Celebrates 8 out of 8 acceptances to the Ivy Leagues!
Kweller Prep Tutoring Center is proud to announce that a longtime student, Malena Galletto, was accepted to all 8 Ivy League Universities. She achieved a perfect 100% acceptance rate to 28 colleges to which she applied. This fall, Malena will join the prestigious Harvard University, where she plans to double major in Government and Physics, aspiring to make a significant impact on the world.
Malena’s journey with Kweller Prep began in the sixth grade with the Hunter Prep program, followed by SHSAT classes, PSAT classes, and College Readiness programs. Her dedication and hard work culminated in her acceptance to every college she applied to, an incredible feat that showcases her academic excellence and perseverance.
A recent graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, Malena excelled academically with a stellar GPA of 97/100 and completed an impressive 11 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Her AP coursework spanned a diverse range of subjects, including European History, Art History, US History, English Language, Latin, Physics 1, Spanish Literature, Economics, Calculus AB, English Literature, and Comparative Government. Additionally, she challenged herself with advanced classes such as Post-AP Modern Physics and Social Science Research.
Malena’s college application process was marked by dedication and resilience, as evidenced by the 70 essays she wrote and the over 200 hours she spent on her applications. Her hard work paid off, securing her a place at Harvard University.
At Bronx Science, Malena co-founded the Gender Equity Board, working alongside school administration to foster a more inclusive environment. As Captain of the Speech and Debate team, she led a 40-member team to success on local, regional, and national stages, focusing on pressing social issues. Malena also held leadership roles as the Secretary of the Senior Council, Co-president of the Multicultural Club, and an active member of the Student Diversity Committee.
Malena’s background is a source of immense pride. As the daughter of Argentine immigrants who moved to New York City to pursue careers as Tango instructors, she embraces her heritage and is motivated to create a better future for herself and her family. She is the first in her family to attend an Ivy League institution, a testament to her perseverance and determination.
Her extensive preparation at Kweller Prep, starting from the sixth grade, played a crucial role in her academic journey. Malena’s participation in Kweller’s Hunter program and SHSAT classes helped her secure a spot at her top-choice high school, Bronx Science, and achieve an impressive SAT score of 1560/1600. Her involvement with Kweller Prep’s college readiness programs and webinars has been pivotal, and she is now excited to host one all by herself.
Outside of academics, Malena is a talented dancer with training in Tango, classical ballet, contemporary, and character dance. She has performed at notable venues such as Symphony Space and New York Live Arts Theater.
Malena grew up in a Spanish-speaking household and is driven to help other students like herself realize their dreams and gain access to top-tier educational opportunities. Her remarkable journey inspires and demonstrates that with determination and support, anything is possible. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Throughout her academic journey, Malena has been a strong advocate for inclusivity and diversity. Her work with the Gender Equity Board and the Student Diversity Committee at Bronx Science highlights her dedication to creating an environment where every student feels valued and empowered. She aims to extend this advocacy on a broader scale, working towards systemic changes promoting fairness and equal education opportunities.
Malena’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that with perseverance, support, and a commitment to equity, it is possible to overcome barriers and achieve greatness.
