Mintwood Real Estate Welcomes Residents To Oakhouse, Transforms Underutilized Land

Mintwood Real Estate, a Dallas-based, woman-owned firm focused on multifamily and mixed-use development, today announces the debut of Oakhouse, a 219-unit Class-A mixed-income apartment community nestled in Dallas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood. The project is now leasing with the first move-ins expected to begin this week. The community is the latest residential offering from business partners Katy Slade and Nick Venghaus at Mintwood, which recently celebrated the completion of Peridot Residences, an office-to-multifamily conversion in Downtown Dallas. Oakhouse is Mintwood’s second multifamily development in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, following the success of its first project, 212 Melba, which opened in 2022.

“Oakhouse offers sophisticated living adjacent to Bishop Arts and Downtown Dallas, both of which boast a dynamic mix of restaurants, retail and rich Dallas history,” said Katy Slade, principal and founder of Mintwood. “Transforming long-underutilized land into new homes brings our team immense pride. As we officially unveil Oakhouse, we look forward to welcoming the first residents to their high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes.”

Located at 900 E. Colorado Blvd, less than a mile from Dallas’ central business district and the Bishop Arts District, Oakhouse was developed as a Public Facility Corporation, which aims to develop and preserve mixed-income housing in the city. Oakhouse is the first completed project as part of  the Dallas Public Facility Corporation. A percentage of units are reserved as essential housing for members of the community who are part of the missing middle, including healthcare workers, educators, emergency responders, law enforcement, military personnel and more.

Oakhouse features top-tier amenities, including an outdoor pool and grill area, dedicated dog park, parking garage equipped with 15 EV chargers, indoor lounge with a coffee bar, upscale fitness center with attached playroom, remote workspaces and a sky lounge on the top floor offering unobstructed and proximate views of the downtown skyline. The luxurious atmosphere extends to the interiors of the studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans with curated finishes, including stainless steel appliances, walk-in showers, wood-style flooring, spacious closets and elegant quartz countertops. Many residences will also benefit from views of the Dallas skyline.

“We found creative ways to maximize the flexibility of each unit, such as adding extra space to the bedrooms, so a resident can bring in whatever fits their lifestyle, like a desk for remote work and studying or fitness equipment for home workouts. Residents can also choose from two kitchen design options, allowing personalization. Customization is key for a space that truly feels like home,”  said Nick Venghaus, principal at Mintwood.

WDG Architecture was the architect and SWOON, the studio served as the interior design firm for the project. Gables Residential will lease and manage Oakhouse.
