Atlanta-based law firm donates $20,000 to fund shoes for 200 Atlanta-area families
1-800-TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, is partnering with KISS 104.1 FM, Atlanta’s R&B station, to host a free back-to-school “Shoesday” giveaway. Designed to provide new shoes to school-aged youth as they return to school, “Shoesday” will be held from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sole Play, 106 E Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030 on Tuesday, July 23.
The first 200 families will receive one $100 Sole Play gift card, sponsored by 1-800-TruckWreck. Gift cards will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and are meant to help families purchase new shoes for children going back to school. Toni Moore, the morning show host, will be on-site, broadcasting live during the giveaway.
“Back-to-school giveaways are typically associated with supplies like pencils, notebooks, and backpacks, but the need extends beyond these items,” said Amy Witherite, owner of 1-800-TruckWreck and founder of Witherite Law Group. “Shoes can be one of the most expensive items on a child’s list. In supporting this event we hope to outfit children with new footwear, helping them start the year with confidence.”
Research indicates that new shoes foster self-confidence and lead to improved academic outcomes and in-class behavior. Weather-appropriate shoes that fit properly increase participation and performance in athletics, physical education and other extracurricular activities. Though, the average cost of sneakers is $70 to $250, which can be a financial hardship, especially for families with multiple children. 1-800-TruckWreck is providing the wherewithal necessary to empower students to focus on school and worry less about their appearance.
1-800-TruckWreck is also hosting the “Cash Register Takeover” on Wednesday, July 24, at two locations where they will give away over $20,000 in gift cards to help offset the cost of school supplies.
