Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise owners Glenn and Rhonda Rogers have chosen Park Plaza in Severna Park as the site for the couple’s third location in Anne Arundel County, joining sites in Annapolis and Gambrills. The Texas-based chain is recognized as the nation’s largest specialty cake company, with more than 600 bakery locations throughout the United States and Canada. The franchisees signed a lease with Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) for 2,730 square feet of space and intend to open at the shopping center located at 550 Ritchie Highway in November. Dominique Threatt of CRC, represented the landlord, and Matt Stanislawski of The Retail Strategy represented the tenant in this transaction.

Since its founding by friends Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in their Las Vegas home kitchens in 1997, Nothing Bundt Cakes has built an international brand featuring handcrafted bundt cakes that are available in flavors such as chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, snickerdoodle, carrot, classic vanilla, and strawberries and cream. Decorated cakes for special occasions, mini-bundt cakes, gluten-free offerings, and cookies are also available. Approximately 25 employees are expected to be hired to work at the store.

“We researched numerous locations throughout the Glen Burnie and Severna Park area and it was clear that Park Plaza generates consistently robust consumer traffic,” stated Glenn Rogers. “We live in nearby Arnold and we noticed that shoppers visit the center for different reasons, a new grocery store is opening soon, and this represented a great opportunity to serve the local community.”

Park Plaza is a 183,380 square foot neighborhood shopping center on Ritchie Highway near Robinson Road, anchored by Planet Fitness and Five Below and features 55 tenants, including a mix of sit-down, quick-service and fast-casual restaurants, as well as medical, sports and fitness, professional services, and financial services retailers. MOM’s Organic Market signed a lease in late 2023 for nearly 12,000 square feet of space with intentions to open a new supermarket in the shopping center later this year.

More than 52,000 vehicles pass Park Plaza daily via Ritchie Highway. Nothing Bundt Cakes’ lease elevates occupancy of the center to approximately 93 percent.

“Bakeries and specialty dessert retailers consistently draw in customers, and with Nothing Bundt Cakes, we’ve partnered with a well-known brand that will offer delicious products to the surrounding neighborhoods Kristina O’Keefe, CRC’s Vice President, Commercial Division. “Adding this retailer to the Park Plaza tenant mix reflects CRC’s commitment to support beloved brands that resonate with the community. The concept will attract new consumers and enhance the center’s reputation as a vibrant and dynamic shopping destination.”
