Lime doubling down on investing in Seattle as ridership booms with 2.4 million rides in first 7 months of the year, a 51% increase from 2023
Lime launched the LimeGlider this week in Seattle after announcing the creation of its two newest vehicles in late July. LimeBike and Limglider are designed to attract more riders to shared micromobility and expand the use cases Lime vehicles can serve. Building on Lime’s experience of designing its own hardware, the LimeGlider is a brand-new seated vehicle built without pedals for an effortless ride. Seattle will be the first city in the entire world to experience the LimeGlider pilot. Lime chose Seattle for its real commitment to sustainable transportation innovation, building protected bike lanes and supporting micromobility. Lime also believes that Seattle’s general eagerness to embrace and cultivate technological innovation both in transportation and throughout the tech industry makes it a perfect fit to continue investing in and developing new hardware here.
“We announced that LimeGlider would be coming to Seattle just two weeks ago and the response has already been fantastic. Now that they are out on the streets we are so excited for our riders to have another vehicle to delight them during their rides and for Seattleites who have maybe never even thought of trying out micromobility give them a shot. Seattle is leading the way forward on transportation and technological innovation and the LimeGlider is an intersection of those two ideas. We hope our riders will enjoy these new vehicles as much as we have enjoyed designing and building them,” said Hayden Harvey, Director of Government Relations at Lime.
“Bike and scooter share is a healthy and environmentally friendly way to get around Seattle” said Seattle Department of Transportation Bike & Scooter Share Program Manager Becky Edmonds. “We’re happy that Lime is continuing to innovate and give customers new options so that more people can choose a device that works best for their needs.”
New Vehicle Mode
The LimeGlider is Lime’s newest vehicle innovation, unlike any shared vehicle on the street today. Featuring a striking green and black livery, a departure from Lime vehicles’ traditional white and green color scheme, the LimeGlider is an evolution of Lime’s current vehicle offerings. It combines the seated comfort of a bike with the effortlessness of a scooter. Built without pedals, the LimeGlider allows riders to simply get on and go. The larger padded seat is unique in Lime’s fleet and is positioned closer to the ground to provide a lower center of gravity for riders.

Data: Ridership Booms in Seattle
“Our riders have made clear that Seattle is a place where people are looking for ways to get around without a car. Our operations team works 24/7 to ensure that whenever they look for a Lime vehicle – and we have 3 different types here now – they can find one. We take pride in making sure our riders know they can rely on us and we’ll never stop working to make their experience even better, all while keeping the streets neat and tidy for all road users,” said Victor Long, Sr. Operations Manager for Washington.
Lime’s success globally is powered by cities like Seattle, which has embraced micromobility through investments in infrastructure, including bike lanes and bike parking, to allow shared e-bikes and e-scooters to thrive. Seattle residents and visitors took over 3.1 million rides on Lime vehicles in 2023, an increase of 50% compared to 2022. The ridership boom has continued into this year with over 2.4 million rides taken in the first 7 months of the year, an increase of 51% compared to the same time frame in 2023. Lime believes that continued investments in its service in Seattle like the recently launched throttle e-bike and now the LimeGlider will help many many more Seattilites decarbonized their lives.
Since Lime launched in Seattle in July 2017, nearly 2 million riders have taken over 12.7 million total rides, traveling almost 15 million miles. Lime riders have shifted an estimated 3.1 million car trips to sustainable e-scooter and e-bike trips, saving an estimated 1,265 metric tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent of burning 5.2 million pounds of coal, and saving 142,000 gallons of gas.
