BALTIMORE The Brain Injury Association of Maryland (BIAMD) will host its 18th annual Scarecrow Classic 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, Sunday, Oct. 20, at Piney Run Park – Pavilion 1 (30 Martz Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784).

Rain or shine, 200+ survivors, friends, loved ones and supporters are expected for this family-friendly event, which raises awareness about brain injuries and much needed funding for BIAMD. Check-in takes place from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

Following warm-up activities, the chip-timed 5K walk/run timed commences at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile fun walk (with paved pathways conducive to wheelchairs and strollers) steps off at 9:10 a.m. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Service animals are also welcome.

After traveling along a scenic course with festive fall decorations, everyone can enjoy the post-race festival with food, music, prizes and awards. All participants will receive a 2024 long-sleeve cotton event t-shirt and access to the post-race festival.

All runners will receive a finisher medal and the fifth piece of a five-piece B.R.A.I.N (Brave, Resilient, Adaptive, Innovative and Never giving Up) Challenge Medal.
