Annual Exhibit and Auction Showcases Artists with Developmental Disabilities
An eclectic exhibit of paintings, drawings, watercolors, sculptures, and ceramics will be on display when The Arc Baltimore holds its largest and most anticipated annual event – Art in the Round.
Showcasing the talent and artistry of people with developmental disabilities, Art in the Round will be held on Friday, October 25th, 6:30 -10 p.m., at the Grand Lodge of Maryland (304 International Circle, Hunt Valley, MD). The event will feature 60 jury-selected pieces of artwork which attendees can bid on as part of the fund-raising auction.
Art in the Round attendees will also enjoy mobile bidding, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar featuring a specialty drink, a wine wall, and lots of opportunities to meet with the artists and discuss the inspiration behind their artwork.
“Art in the Round is The Arc Baltimore’s biggest fund-raising event, with proceeds helping to support art classes, workshops, and other mission-related programs for people with developmental disabilities,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer.
Durkin notes that featured Art in the Round artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold during the event auction. In addition, The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster.
(For profile videos of the artists and event posters throughout the years, visit the Art in the Round website at www.thearcbaltimore.org/art).
Artists of all ages with developmental disabilities who want to participate in this year’s Art in the Round must submit their artwork along with a completed artist packet for review by Friday, September 6th. A selection committee of esteemed members from the Baltimore art community will then choose the artwork to be exhibited at Art in the Round.
Tickets for Art in the Round go on sale on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024. In the meantime, businesses and individuals might consider becoming an Art in the Round sponsor.
