Youth-Focused Music School Bach to Rock Signs Lease at Robinson Crossing Shopping Center

Franchise owners Janice and John Hariadi plan to open this fall within 115,000 square foot shopping center on Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, Maryland

Janice and John Hariadi, local franchisee owners of youth-focused music school Bach to Rock, have signed a lease with Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) for 2,475 square feet of space at Robinson Crossing Shopping Center and intend to begin operations at the 115,000 square foot shopping center in Severna Park this fall. Located at 450 Ritchie Highway and anchored by ALDI Supermarket, Robinson Crossing Shopping Center is now 92 percent leased. Dominique Threatt of CRC represented the landlord and Jason Flippo of KLNB Retail represented the tenant in this lease transaction.

Bach to Rock positions itself as the “music store for tomorrow’s songwriters, artists, and pop stars.” The concept offers music lessons for students of all ages in voice, piano, guitar, drums, and other instruments, as well as providing music classes for beginners. Early childhood music education programs begin with children under the age of seven, with classes designed to support cognitive development, fine motor, and social skills. Bach to Rock also offers music camps and music-themed birthday parties and has an on-site recording studio.

The Robinson Crossing location is Bach to Rock’s first in the greater Baltimore metropolitan region. The franchise operates more than 50 locations around the country, including three in Maryland, at Bethesda, Fulton, and Gaithersburg. Approximately 15 music instructors will be hired initially.

“I’ve had a life-long love affair with music, I play electric guitar and also sing in a local band, so this franchise seemed like a natural fit,” explained Janice Hariadi, who spent the past 15 years managing various real estate companies, but will now run day-to-day operations of the store. “There is an extremely active music community, as well as many schools with a strong focus on music and the arts, near Robinson Crossing and we are confident that this is the ideal location for us. The center is close to the communities we want to serve, and it currently attracts a high volume of moms and families. The addition of ALDI was also a major selling point.”

Robinson Crossing Shopping Center is located at the signalized intersection of Governor Ritchie Highway (MD Route 2) and Robinson Road. The tenant mix is comprised of national and locally-owned retailers, restaurants, and service providers, including Celebree Learning Centers, Dollar Tree, and Mattress Firm.

“Bach to Rock provides a creative outlet, fosters artistic development, and builds a sense of community through music education,” stated Kristina O’Keefe, Vice President of CRC’s Commercial Division. “Attracting Bach to Rock enriches the center’s cultural offerings and diversifies the tenant mix by adding a musical resource to the local community.”

Nearly 57,000 vehicles pass the shopping center site each day along Ritchie Highway. Approximately 135,000 consumers, including nearly 48,000 households with an average household income approaching $142,000, reside within a five-mile radius of Robinson Crossing Shopping Center.

Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland and founded in 1960, Continental Realty Corporation is a full-service commercial real estate and investment company focused on acquiring and operating retail and multifamily properties. The privately held firm owns and manages a diversified portfolio of retail centers consisting of nearly eight million square feet of commercial space and over 9,000 apartment homes across 11 states, with a portfolio value exceeding $4 billion.
