South Florida-based construction entrepreneur Matthias Williams has built growing success over 19 years of business through “constant learning and grit,” and working hard to find the right balance between work and family.
“The construction part is easy,” says Williams who studied architecture at the University of Houston and is founder of Sunrise-based MattBeth Construction, which provides the full range of construction and renovation services for commercial and residential clients. “We believe in learning new technology, using systems on our projects to help us be lean and efficient and doing whatever it takes to get a project completed on time and on budget. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in all things,” says Williams
This year, MattBeth completed its 450th retail remodeling project, some of which were with the world’s most iconic brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Lululemon, IKEA, Bath & Body Works, Macy’s, Bass Pro Shops, Panda Express, as well as many independent businesses and residential consumers.
MattBeth specializes in open store and live-in construction, meaning clients don’t need to temporarily close or move out during renovation. MattBeth uses a CLEAN Construction system that ensures quality craftmanship, protects valuables and streamlines workflow.
The company is rapidly expanding its luxury residential design building portfolio and expects to quadruple that business in 2025. This includes a new 52-home development in Lehigh Acres in Southwest Florida.
Key to the safety and success of this project and overall construction in Florida will be implementation of new stricter rules soon to be required by FEMA that will have substantial impacts on Florida homeowners and businesses. Williams has studied closely to stay on top and ahead of these standards, and recently presented a masterclass “Navigating The Future Of Florida Construction.”
“Matthias is not only a sharp learner and teacher, but he is quick to share his expertise and support to other entrepreneurs and community,” says Leonard Golberg, founder of Gold Aviation Services and current president of Entrepreneurs’ Organization South Florida. “He’s a great talent and resource for our chapter.”
EO SOFLO is one of the world’s largest EO chapters, and works to foster entrepreneurship and overall economic growth in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. More than 300 EO SOFLO member companies account for more than $3 billion in yearly revenues and 11,000 jobs in the tri-county area.
Williams joined EO SOFLO in 2011 and calls it a “gamechanger” for his business, helping him “think bigger, act faster, and surround myself with people smarter than me.”
“EO is a band of dreamers, doers, and innovators who get what it takes to run a business and still sleep at night (sometimes). It’s a place where you can hash out your problems with people who understand the perils and highs in the business journey,” he says.
Williams also credits EO, especially his EO Forum, for helping him manage a healthy work-life balance with his wife, kids, family and his own emotions. I love connecting with peers who are juggling the same life-balls as me, and who are so willing to share their experiences and wisdom.”
Williams also is excited to be part of the overall South Florida entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well, calling it a “flourishing diverse haven with every kind of business imaginable from tech to construction, AI, retail megaplexes, tourism.” He calls it “an opportunity ecosystem” and adds that amazing weather 80% of the year helps create a unique “hustle in paradise vibe.”
“Entrepreneurs feed the world, drive the economy, protect families, and help create the future, even as we juggle uncertainty and success,” Williams says. “It’s critical to have and support each other in times of hardship and share in times of abundance.”
