Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Appoints James Scanlon to Allentown Office

The law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is pleased to welcome James J. Scanlon to the firm’s Allentown, Pennsylvania office. He joins as a member in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group where he focuses on criminal defense and complex commercial litigation matters.

About Jim Scanlon

Scanlon regularly handles high stakes matters involving the defense of individuals, government officials, corporate officers, and corporate board members. He represents individuals in the defense of major felony crimes including wire and mail fraud, homicide, aggravated assault, drug trafficking, robbery, crimes involving the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and complex commercial fraud involving Medicare and IRS matters. He has experience trying federal cases to verdict in both federal and state courts.

As part of his civil litigation work, Scanlon represents businesses and corporations in disputes involving shareholders, corporate governance issues, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty claims. He frequently works with elected officials and municipal employees in the defense of Section 1983 claims and represents attorneys, accountants, stockbrokers, architects and engineers navigating professional liability claims. Scanlon has additional experience providing strategic counsel on securities and construction contracts, merger and acquisition agreements, commercial paper transactions, secured transactions, and commercial real estate transactions. He also advises corporations and educational institutions in disputes and currently serves as General Counsel at Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Norris Mclaughlin, P.A., Scanlon served as the chief trial attorney for a boutique law firm in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law and earned his B.A. from Villanova University. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard P. Conaboy, United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and Chairman of the United States Sentencing Commission. Scanlon is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts and in the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
