CREW Carbon Raises $5.3M Seed Funding

CREW Carbon, a Brooklyn, NY-based climetetech startup, raised $5.3m in seed funding.

The round was led by Counteract with participation from ReGen Ventures, ANIMO, Connecticut Innovations, Ponderosa Ventures, Newlab, Echo River Capital, and the Carbon Drawdown Initiative.

The company intends to use the funds to grow the team, deploy systems at additional wastewater plants, and continue building their proprietary carbon monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) system.

Led by Dr. Joachim Katchinoff, Co-Founder and CEO, CREW Carbon focuses initially on removing biogenic CO2 produced in wastewater treatment facilities. Developed through years of research at Yale University, CREW’s technology enhances the natural power of minerals to treat wastewater and store CO2permanently, all while removing the cost barrier to optimize biological treatment in wastewater. The company is already operating at multiple plants and are on their way to scaling operations to remove thousands of tons next year.
