Kristi House, Miami-Dade County’s only nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center, announces the appointment of Emily Byrd to Director of Development. In this role, Byrd will lead all fundraising efforts to support Kristi House’s expanding services, with a focus on private and major giving, event planning, and donor stewardship.
“Emily’s dedication to our mission and her deep community commitment make her an invaluable addition to Kristi House,” said Amanda G. Altman, CEO of Kristi House. “We are thrilled to have her on board to strengthen our development efforts and extend our strong network of supporters.”
Byrd added, “Kristi House’s work resonates deeply with me, and I’m honored to contribute to this impactful mission. I look forward to engaging with our donors and partners to help meet our goals and continue making a difference in the lives of children and families.”
Byrd’s career path has evolved from the recording industry to real estate and philanthropy, equipping her with a creative approach to community engagement and outreach. With this diverse background and a deep passion for service, she is well-prepared to lead Kristi House’s development initiatives to new heights.
Prior to joining Kristi House, Byrd was a Broker Associate with Compass, where she built a successful career in the Miami and Nashville market, achieving over $100 million in sales. Her commitment to giving back is equally impressive. In Nashville, she served with the Junior League on a committee dedicated to supporting human trafficking survivors through partnerships with organizations like End Slavery and Thistle Farms. After relocating to Miami, she continued her involvement with the Junior League of Miami, where she now chairs a committee at INN Transition South, a women’s empowerment center that supports families in transition.
Most recently, Kristi House expanded its reach with the opening of the Healing Sanctuary in Homestead. This new facility, in partnership with MUJER, will serve as a centralized hub for trauma-informed care, supporting victims of violence and abuse in South Dade. With this strategic expansion, the organization will be able to serve a significantly larger number of children and families in need. Byrd joins at a pivotal moment, where her expertise in community engagement and dedication to service will be crucial in driving the support needed to sustain and grow Kristi House’s impact across the county.
