1-800-TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, Atlanta’s prominent hip hop and R&B radio stations and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church are joining together to provide meals to over 2,000 Atlanta-area families this Thanksgiving – one of the largest Thanksgiving food giveaway efforts in metro Atlanta for the fourth year in a row. The organizations will host the annual Turkey Giveaway where $70,000 in turkeys, sponsored by 1-800-TruckWreck, will be distributed.
1-800-TruckWreck, along with Audacy, Inc. radio property, V-103 The People’s Station: The Big Tigger Morning Show, will host the Turkey Giveaway on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 6400 Woodrow Rd, Stonecrest, GA 30038, where 2,000 turkeys will be given to families in need. The event is free and open to the community. Registration is not required. Tickets for the turkeys will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 2,000 people to arrive at the church will each receive one free turkey – a total value of $70,000. Attendees should remain in their cars for drive-through distribution.
“Thanksgiving is a time for all of us to extend God’s grace and provision to our community in tangible ways. Through our annual partnership with 1-800-TruckWreck and V-103, we are not only meeting physical needs but also sowing seeds of hope and gratitude,” said New Birth Senior Pastor Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant. “This holiday season, as we gather to bless families with meals, we’re reminded of the abundance we find in faith and the call to be vessels of love and compassion. It is our honor and responsibility to serve, uplift, and walk alongside those in need, knowing that together, we are embodying the spirit of Christ’s love.”
According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, 13.1%, or 1 in 8 Georgia residents, are food insecure – a 40% increase over the past 18 months. While COVID-19 caused more people to experience inadequate access to food, other socioeconomic factors, like poverty, unemployment, low wages and lack of access to quality food are also major contributors. 1-800-TruckWreck and its partners are committed to serving the community and ensuring those impacted by economic circumstances can have a healthy meal this holiday season.
“With the food insecurity rate steadily rising in Georgia, there’s no better way to respond than to provide access to healthy meals. New Birth and V-103 have been amazing partners in our effort to feed those who are hungry during Thanksgiving,” said Amy Witherite, owner of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck. “We hope that these meals will provide each family with a well-deserved, fulfilling holiday.”
