Christopher’s Haven Appoints Susan Kagan as Executive Director

Seasoned nonprofit leader Susan Kagan appointed to drive fundraising efforts for Christopher’s Haven as Executive Director

Christopher’s Havena Boston-based 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to operate a supportive community consisting of fully-furnished temporary apartments and a community recreation area for families of children being treated for cancer at nearby hospitals, welcomes Susan Kagan to their team. Susan brings over 25 years of experience leading nonprofits and working with mission-driven organizations serving children and their families.

Susan began her career at Boston Children’s Hospital after earning a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Connecticut. Throughout her career, she has worked on access to recreation and community opportunities for children with significant healthcare needs and disabilities. Susan’s extensive background includes experience in grant-making and forging strategic partnerships between private and public funders.

Her expertise in promoting inclusion has earned her fellowships from the Children’s Defense Fund and the German Marshall Fund, with a focus on childcare, disability rights, and special healthcare needs. She is also a published author, contributing articles on volunteerism and inclusive recreation, and co-authoring the book “Don’t Forget the Fun: Developing Inclusive Recreation.”

At Christopher’s Haven, Susan will lead efforts to expand and sustain fundraising initiatives that support families facing pediatric cancer.
