On Monday, November 11, 2024, Palmer Trinity School (PTS), in partnership with the Village of Palmetto Bay, honored local veterans from Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay for the 10th year in a row. Veterans and their families joined a special assembly and convocation featuring guest speakers, music, prayers and a presentation by the Miami Dade Police Color Guard. The event was followed by breakfast.
“We were privileged to honor those who have so valiantly served our country,” said Patrick Roberts, Head of School. “Celebrating these veterans as we have for the past 10 years has helped our students reflect on what service and sacrifice for the common good means and has deepened our connection to the community.”
PTS welcomed U.S. Army veteran Oliver Moore as its keynote speakers. In addition to being a West Point graduate and serving in the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, Moore is a parent to a seventh-grade student who attends Palmer Trinity School. He shared his unique and inspiring stories of service for the benefit of 1000 in attendance, including 70 veterans and dignitaries.
Other special guests included Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham, Florida District 38 Senator Alexis Calatayud and Miami Dade Mayor Danielle Levine Cava.
